I once heard about an author who wrote a 500-page bestseller in spare time after 11 PM when the kids were in bed, all in about three months.

Once upon a time, someone wrote a trilogy. Many believe it should have been left alone as a trilogy. But the author decided (or agreed) to write just one more book to kind of finish up the story and tie up all the loose ends.

The outline is like a road map. We knew where we started, of course, and we knew pretty much where we want the story to go. Our problem came from not having a road map to show us how to get from here to there.

...we decided to change direction with respect to our main characters. We thought we had a good idea, but as the story developed, we all began to like different people. The bad-asses began to take a back seat to the nerds, geeks and punks. We actually started to pull for the underdogs.
